Building a Better User Experience: A Navigation Overhaul for HomeDepot.com

Objective:

The goal of this case study is to identify and address key pain points customers face while using the Home Depot website. By redesigning the homepage and checkout page in Figma, I aim to improve the user experience, enhance navigation, and streamline the purchase process โ€” especially for high-involvement purchases like kitchens and appliances.

I redesigned The Home Depot homepage using Figma to enhance user satisfaction by addressing key pain points, particularly the frustration users face when trying to find specific services or products. The original navigation menu lacked clear categorization, and clear services options, often leading to confusion and a disjointed browsing experience. To resolve this, I reorganized the top menu with clearly defined categories and ensured it remains sticky at the top of the page for constant accessibility as users scroll. This improves navigation efficiency and overall usability. In addition to the homepage, I also redesigned the checkout page to provide a more intuitive, user-friendly experience, making the entire shopping process more seamless and satisfying.

The new design simplifies access to key product categories, streamlines search functionality, and enhances the visibility of customer services and promotions. It incorporates modern UI/UX best practices while maintaining the brand identity that Home Depot customers recognize and trust.

My goal is to create a more intuitive and efficient navigation experience that supports both DIY customers and professional users in finding products, services, and support with minimal effort.
